Supervisors' notes and editable worksheets included on the CD
The CD ROM starts at the very basic gate level explaining how individual gates operate,
showing their truth tables (and explains what truth tables are), and why engineers
use digital signals rather than analogue signals. The CD then takes users step by
step through increasingly complex circuits involving combinational and sequential
logic. At each stage the user is presented with circuits that they can interact
with on screen (see screen grab of the bistable below).
Having gained a good understanding of how the basic gates and combinations of gates
operate, the CD then starts to examine how digital logic systems work in real applications:
full and half adders, scrambling systems, parity checkers, code converters, D/A
and A/D converters, memories and microprocessors.
