The interactive learning program „Metal Removal 3“ describesthe automated
production process turning.
The structure and parameters of the lathe are described, and the most commontypes
are presented. The cutting geometry and structure of the turning tool are explained
and the useof different types of turning tools is illustrated by means of application
examples. Tool and workpiece clamping, exercises in determing cutting parameters
and3D animations of the turning procedures clarify the turning process. Countermeasures
for the prevention of accidents and environmental damageare discussed. The Course
Objectives aids in the retention of the learned material.
